Gweek National Seal Sanctuary
Set in the picturesque Helford Estuary the Sanctuary is one of the busiest seal rescue and rehabilitation facilities in Europe, and is also home to retired sea lions and adult grey seals which were too badly injured to return to the wild. There are otters and rescued farm animals too, and a Seal Rescue observatory in which visitors can have a go at tending to a seal pup with the help of a realistic model that doesn’t bite or snarl! Hunstanton Seal Sanctuary
The Sanctuary sits on the shoulder of The Wash and its dedicated animal care team is kept busy every summer rescuing and caring for young casualties of the common seal pupping season. As well as its seal hospital and outdoor pools, however, it also boasts penguin and otter enclosures and a breathtaking aquarium with dozens of spectacular displays…including ocean tank with walkthrough underwater tunnel.
